Cycling – all around Millstätter lake by bicycle…

Whether you are sitting on the saddle of an e-bike or a bicycle without a booster, you can go on a leisurely ride around Millstatt Lake: the 28-kilometre circuit runs all around the water’s edge and those who take their time will be amply rewarded.

You can swim in the lake, with its drinking water quality, immerse yourself in the culture of its localities, enjoy a cocktail right by the water, or treat yourself to a soothing bathe in the moor lake Egelsee. It is only a few steps from the cycling and walking path to the banks of Millstatt Lake. Simply kick off your shoes, wander out and gaze out over the lake towards the gently rolling Nockberge. You can shorten the trip around the lake by taking the “Peter Pan” leisure boat, with regular crossings between the jetties around the shores.

What is also especially suitable for leisurely cyclists and families is the 360-kilometre-long Drau cycle path, which meanders along the Drau from Toblach in South Tyrol, via Spittal an der Drau to Maribor in Slovenia. Some stages can be accessed from Millstatt Lake.

The network of cycle-friendly restaurants, inns and accommodation, treating cyclists to a range of tailor-made offers, is as dense as the cycle path network. These include cyclist menus, lockable garages, technical services, bicycle rentals, guided tours and themed cycle paths on the trail of history and the special facets of nature.
